To Sleep or Not To Sleep?

Someone help me! For the past several days I have suffered from I can only term "Pregnancy Insomnia." Basically my bladder wakes me up in the middle of the night (no surprise there), but I can't get back to sleep! My mind races and wanders, and I lie awake tossing and turning for the better part of 2 hours. Last night I woke up initially at 2am, and it was 3:45am when I last looked at the clock before finally drifting off again. Have any of you had this?? What can I do? I'm exhausted and it's all I can do to not fall asleep on my patients at work at this point...

Unfortunately I sleep better when I have a newborn than I do when I am pregnant. I feel your pain but nothing worked for me so I have no advise. Hopeully you will get over this quickly and be able to get some rest!

I totally had the same problem. I have vivid memories of watching Conan O'Brien in the middle of the night...trying to get somewhat drowsy. I think I started taking Tylenol PM and that REALLY helped. I would check with your doctor, but I think it was okay to take one. Don't take two, I made that mistake once and couldn't wake up for about half of the next day. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I take half a pill and that knocks me out until morning. :) hope this helps!

I'm kind of in the same boat right now. I wake up a ton throughout the night. Usually it's to go to the bathroom - but then it takes me a while to go back to sleep. I actually got up the other night at 4:30 and had a bowl of cereal, I was so hungry. Did you not have this with Noah? I was just chalking it up to God getting us ready to be up at all hours...sorry you're not sleeping! Are you able to nap at all?

Hmmm, WONDER what your mind could be racing about??

I've been having some insomnia recently, and it drives Jared crazy. I toss and turn, get up for some Tums (keep them by the bed now), go pee 14 times, drink some water. Super annoying. I didn't think you were supposed to take Tylenol PM (maybe it's OK - I should check), but the Robitussin I was on always made me sleep through the night, so sometimes I'll take some of that.

Still, it IS annoying. At least I get to sleep in. =)

Been there, done that. Unfortunaely, I never figured out a way to fix it. No fun!

I can't give any opinion because I don't have children, but my sister took 1 Tylenol PM during both of her pregnancy's and it helped her tremendously when she got to the miserable need to potty constantly stage. She checked with her doctor first.
Maybe a nice relaxing warm bath with cucumber shades on your eyes or some warm milk..?? Hope you get some rest soon!

Oh man....I would wake up for the DAY at like 3am when I was pregnant with Logan. I would mentally redecorate my house for hours and hours and NEVER sleep. It sucked. Nothing worked. So......sorry for that "non" help. But, thanks for the opportunity to reminisce. You're a good friend...with a HOT diaper bag, I might add.
