My Brand of Heroin

I thought it high time to admit, fully and unashamedly, where I've been for the last month. I've been living in the realm of that which is the Twilight Saga. For those of you who have read (or are reading) it, I need pose no further explanation. For those who have not, or who are harboring some unfortunate boycott against the whole thing because it is so trendy, well, your loss. Books don't usually grab me, especially fiction novels, but the 2500+ pages of this series were consumed in 8 days. I then read the unpublished manuscript, Midnight Sun, online on my flight to Charlotte in a couple of hours. I've seen the movie, albeit an unworthy representation of the series, 5 times. I've made Lauren two tee-shirts that say "Team Edward" and "Cullen Baseball". I've read the entire series a second time, amidst stumbling through The Shack and a few other fiction novels, and am finally on to something else that I enjoy, although my mind often wanders to a certain meadow... For the skeptics who think this should be avoided because it is a vampire novel, for crying out loud, Chronicles of Narnia contains an evil witch, a talking lion, blood-thirsty wolves, and several over-sized beavers and it was fabulous. So go get lost in a bit of fantasy for a couple of weeks and let me know what you think!

I love it. Cheers to bloodsuckers, werewolves, Cullens, and a little bit of true love... =)
And I will proudly and unabashedly say that I was your faithful movie-going buddy for 3 of said movie trips.

Well heck, I'll give them a whirl. Why don't you bring the books to CHI and let me borrow them? Apparently I won't need them for longer than 8 days before I can mail them back to you.

p.s. Novels are, by definition, works of fiction. : )

See the way you describe them makes me want to read them...the way others have shared their views makes me want not read them. So I'm with mimsies...I'll give it a whirl.
And I loved her p.s.
Who doesn't need a little fantasy in their lives?

If you get them to "CHI" quick enough, I could even read them when I'm there for Gram's bday! Though I guess 3.5 days likely wouldn't give me time to finish them all...

Justine: I'll bring them and you can read the first one in a day or two for sure. I think Janelle and maybe even Ali have them in NC though so you're covered.

Rachel: Yes, but "works of fiction" seems too pretentious to write.

Sooz: Try the first one without thinking about what others have said, good or bad. It will make me happy if you like it!

I think it's time for us to go and see it for the 6th time ...

Holy schnitzels. Obsess much? Actually I can't talk. When I was in my 20's I read the entire Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles series (including 'The Vampire Lestat' three times). But that took me A YEAR and that was TEN YEARS AGO.

It is so interesting to me how people feel so strongly about these books. Either love them or hate them. I am just not a fiction reader at all, can't get through a book to save my life, so I'll never know why. Just so interesting...
