If you have not seen this week's Grey's Anatomy yet, you should stop reading right now because I am about to divulge things.
For the rest of you, what in the world?! Did they kill off Meredith? Let's refresh: She was passed out underwater in the freezing cold for more than 30 minutes. She was rescued (by McDreamy, of course) and was given CPR for several minutes. She was given multiple shots of epinephrine, several shocks with the paddles, and a breathing tube with NO response. Her body temp is 81 degrees. She is blue. Oh, and let's not forget that she flatlined at the end, woke up in the "afterlife" and saw Denny, who told her she's dead.
Even though Meredith is whiny and lisps and is not my favorite character, the show is named after her for crying out loud! Furthermore, it is in the height of it's popularity and so would she really leave the show? It's like killing off Dr. House of the show House. It's like killing off Jack Bauer (ok, so technically they've already done that and brought him back, but then he is Jack Bauer).
Has anyone heard anything that might shed some light on this so I don't have to spend the whole week seeing the image of McDreamy sobbing and curled up in a ball on the hospital floor over and over in my head?
She'll probably wake up with amnesia and fall in love with Alex who turned sweet all of a sudden. Seriously.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Meredith is whiny and lispy. :)
I heard a rumor that George was going to leave the show, but definitely didn't think Meredith would leave. Like you said, the show is named after her!
Good gracious. Last night about put me over the edge. It was pushing the "cheese" button for me. How in the world? And why did she pass out? She just fell into the water, right? I wasn't too keen on the shots of her blue, lifeless face sinking to the bottom of the ocean. yick.
They can't kill her off...but they did a darn good job of making us think they're gonna. I predict that she'll recover and then change her life aspirations/love choices because she's now had this "light at the end of the tunnel" experience. It makes for more drama. Face it, they can never leave things well enough alone.
Okay.. I too, am freaking out. It is all I have been talking about today.. sad huh? She can't leave the show, her and McDreamy FINALLY got back together!!! AGHHHH!!! I don't know, but I was happy to see Denny again.. even if it was in the afterlife. I am going to boycott for 6 days if they kill off Merideth!
I didn't see it, but here's what I THINK they should do: develop this whole "afterlife" plot - Dead Meredith and Dead Denny can get busy on clouds with halos over their heads. THAT would be some serious drama.
SERIOUSLY!! Youve got to be kidding me.
I'm comfident that they did not kill her off. How cold they?? I have an even better comparison. It would be like killing Rachel off Friends! Or ANY of the Friends off Friends. It. just. cant. happen.
So maybe I'm in denial... But I'm living like it's all a dream. However, I did ask Niles, what if they killed her off, but kept her on as a ghost or something?!!? COULD YOU/would you still watch???
yikes
She will definitely come back to life -- that much we know. Because, duh, she's the main character. Ohhhh, the DRAMA!!!
Okay, but if she comes back to life, she'd be brain dead. She's been without oxygen for 50 freaking minutes.
Another comparison: It's like killing Dawson off of Dawson's creek. Totally annoying whiny character, but the show was named after him.
No way she's dead. I must tell you though, I loved this show because it was so funny and had just the right amount of drama in it - but now it's starting to get a bit too ER'ish. Too much drama and not enough "seriously". Bring back the laughs!!!!
Ahh...you can't kill off the main character. She's not dead, she's in a soap opera. They have extra special powers you know!
Hope you dont mind me leaving a comment. I saw your blog on Lindsays blog.
I think that Meredith is going to be like the dead chick on Desperate Housewives. MaryAnne is it? Anyways, thats what I think because if they do revive her, you are right she would be brain dead. Its the only rational explanation, I think. Cant wait to see what happens.
