Greg and I have been talking a lot about things we'd like to do in the house in the next few months. We've talked about it all so much that it seemed like every conversation began with, "You know what I'd really like to get for the [insert room here, ie: kitchen]? A new [insert object here, ie: rug]." We finally decided to make a list (actually, Greg surprised me by asking if we could please make a list so we could prioritize our spring and summer projects. I happily complied of course, knowing that I'd be in charge of said list and would then get to implement many of the items therein without nagging budgetary conversations because, hey, it was his idea anyway. :)
I truly can't believe how much crap we came up with; and our house is only about 6 years old! In our defense, almost everything will add to the value of the home when we sell, so it should all be good use of money. Here goes:
-New vaccuum
-New dishwasher (ours sounds like a dying animal)
-New lighting in the master bathroom
-New tile for the master bathroom shower
-Paint in the kitchen and master bedroom
-New rug under the kitchen table (Kona chewed ours when she was a puppy)
-Tile the floor in the guest bathroom (it currently has carpet--strange)
-Garage refrigerator (Greg's idea)
-New doorknobs throughout the house (I'm not a fan of plastic-brass)
-Possible staining of the master bathroom cabinets
Does anyone else have a to-do list like this one? Are we crazy? Is this even possible? I guess if there's an upside to this ginormous list of "upgrades", it's that I'm pregnant; so there will be no painting or heavy lifting for Jackie!

Our house is not quite 5 years old and we also have a list... mainly to do with painting every wall anything than the awful builder off-white cheap crappy paint that you can't scrub anything off of. Tile the back lanai. Landscaping. Crown molding would be lovely :) And new furniture. If only for more money and time. And money.
Ours is huge, and involves things like
-Rip out brand new kitchen
-Build laundry room
-Paint every room in house
-rebuild deck
-Rip out landscaping
Your list sounds totally manageable for a summer! Good luck, and of course you must post pictures of finished projects!
Yes, ours is also large:
1. Crawl my fat arse under deck to improve the "grading" by building 45 degree downward slope from the house to the ground. This was recommended by home inspector.
2. Price new garages. Ours could fall over any time. Hopefully it does so in a thunderstorm so insurance pays for it.
3. Re-tile and paint the upstairs bathroom. Rose-flecked-with-white wallpaper with flowery border (yes, BORDER!) and rose-colored tiles were inherited from the previous owner.
4. Rip out master bedroom carpet, treat natural hardwoods, and paint said bedroom.
5. Mulch all flower beds and apply spring fertilizer to the lawn.
6. Weatherproof the deck and blacktop driveway.
7. Hire an electrician to "ground" the outlets in all the bathrooms so Richie isn't scared to death to touch them with wet fingers.
8. Do something with the abhorrent mess of boxes an' such in the basement.
I have a to-do list that's 16 items long. And those are just repairs. If I actually wanted to do updating, it would be a lot longer (and more expensive!). Our house is about 17 years old and starting to show its age I guess... Not to mention our three little tornados!
What does the tile in your master bath look like? I forget.
I don't think anything on this list is too crazy... or difficult or expensive, for that matter. A tile job takes an afternoon, and switching out lights & doorknobs isn't too bad either. Painting, too, is pretty easy. What color are you going to re-paint the kitchen?
I also need a new vaccuum, but I'm holding out for a Dyson. =)
Dear Runaournd-Sue,
My houselist would be blah, blah, blah, blah....what do you think about george and izzy getting in on...where is the blog about that...???...
My houselist is forever long as well. ... granite in kitchen, new backsplash... well it's more like finishing projects that were started but never finished and that's quite a long list!!
I agree with Jaime, where's the blog on Izzy and George?!?!
