California, Here We Come

Hi, my name is Jackie, and I need help.

I can't believe I'm admitting this; my sister will be horrified and my husband has rolled his eyes at me for days now, but I need an outlet of honesty...

Okay. Here goes. Tuesday afternoon I picked up all my maternity clothes from a friend who had borrowed them. As a little fun gift, she included her entire DVD set of The O.C., First Season for me to watch, because, as she said, "when you're pregnant and tired sometimes you just need to watch some mindless television." Little did she know.

I watched the entire first season--27 episodes--of The O.C., plus all the deleted scenes and special features, in 3 days.

I have this sickness. I can't start something and then just stop to go to bed or shower or eat lunch. Once I begin a project, it must be finished, and this counts as a project. I watched all the seasons of Alias over the course of about 6 weekends, and I have sworn myself off of watching 24 because I made Greg sit through like 8 episodes in a row and then got irritated that he wasn't "hardcore" enough to stay tuned. I don't really watch much TV at all anymore (I'm even less amused with Grey's Anatomy lately), so I don't know what came over me. I reverted back to my old self. I couldn't control it. I couldn't turn it off.

In my defense, I didn't watch it while Noah was awake and playing. He's been sick this week though so I've kept him home from daycare, he's taken naps each day for like 3-4 hours at a time, has gone to bed early, and has just wanted to lay on my lap and relax. And thus far he hasn't objected to watching a little Newport Beach drama himself...

Well I'm taking control again. At least for today anyway; she's bringing me the second season tomorrow.

Don't feel bad. I did that with Grey's Anatomy's first season...Dave was out of town and I watched the whole thing in a few days, too. I'm actually starting to get hooked to old O.C. episodes on the (gasp!) Soap Channel in the afternoons after I get home from school. It's the perfect "nap/lazy" time for me. I always thought the show was so stupid when it was on each week and I never watched...now, for some reason, I'm enthralled...

party on, sista.

there are just some shows you get totally sucked into to.

look on the bright side. The OC was only good like the first season, but so are most shows.

I'm totally on a veronica mars kick right now and watch all of season one, two and three in a one and half week time span...now...that is dedication.

Sarah, I totally did that with Charmed! I thought it was so dumb when it was on and I never watched it, but then when I was in grad school it came on everyday right as I got home from class. I totally un-wound from my day while watching that crazy witch show, and I loved it!

You HAVE to have a Jack Bauer marathon... or start watching Entourage. They're only 30 minute episodes so the obsession is easier to control. :) You're not alone, my friend. I have done the DVD marathon watching as well. I can't help that they suck me in!

okay.. about a year ago i got addicted to Dawson's Creek. yep, I am 30 years old and I taped..(not tivo'd, because we didn't have it then.. I had to use the good 'ol VCR tapes) Dawson's Creek. i had never seen it before and then all of a sudden i couldn't care for my children or husband until I had seen the final epipsode which i had to go and buy at Target because they weren't playing it yet. Now I have seen it no less than 5 times, and I think it is really silly, but during those times... it didn't matter how much crap my friends gave me, NO ONE could drag me away from Joey and Dawson.

your going to be allright.

sorry about the novel.

We are addicted to Prison Break. It really is the best show of all time and has two hot guys as the stars (don't tell my husband I said so :-). Seriously, catch up on the first two seasons so you are ready to go when it comes again this fall...

You're funny! I have to admit I did the same thing with LOST. I got sucked right in, watched the 1st 2 seasons last summer on DVD without stopping. We were so addicted. And still are!!

What is worse is that me and Tuck actually watched the O.C. when it was on Thursday nights. We would tape it and watch it on Friday nights after B was in bed. It is addicting and I love a little high school drama.
